Community Spotlight Events

Our Community Spotlight Events give First Bank more opportunities to provide support and community awareness to qualified nonprofit organizations and community groups. Usually hosted at one of our branches, our Community Spotlight Events allow for a unique way to highlight a local organization as well as providing a means for fundraising. Past Community Spotlight Events have included an art auction, an art sales event, a wine tasting and even a calendar unveiling.

September 16, 2011 – Prince of Wales

First Bank hosted a Community Spotlight Event at their branch on Prince of Wales Island this past September. The event raised over $10,000 for the Prince of Wales Cancer Coalition. This local non-profit organization helps provide Prince of Wales residents with financial assistance to offset the high medical cost of treating cancer and cancer related problems. The funds can be used to offset medical bills, medication,

treatment, travel and lodging.

May 13, 2011 - Sitka

This spotlight event promoted the awareness of the Sitka Fine Arts Camp Scholarship Fund. The Sitka Fine Arts Camp provides a multi-discipline arts program for Alaska students from kindergarten to twelfth grade. Many of the students are from rural communities that do not have an arts program in their schools. The camp is a nationally recognized performing arts camp that has been in existence for over 30 years. Each summer, over 600 people from all over Alaska attend the camp which teaches visual arts, music, dance, theater, writing, and Alaska Native Arts. The event helped round out the grant to $5,000.
