Through our collaborations, families can find affordable places to call home, people can gain job skills, kids from diverse backgrounds can achieve in school, and the wealth of the arts can become more accessible to everyone. Working together, we can develop creative solutions that maximize our human and financial potential.

You can count on us to help meet community needs in many ways, including providing cash grants, loan assistance, in-kind donations, sponsorships of community organizations, and volunteering our time and expertise.

Community Development

First Bank makes loans, grants, and investments and provides special services to help support affordable housing, economic revitalization, and organizations providing critically needed services to our communities.

Loans: We offer many innovative products and services through our Mortgage Center that help people in rural communities or with low and moderate incomes achieve home ownership. Through our Loan Center we help small businesses and industries grow to provide sustainable jobs as well as help to revitalize local neighborhoods and communities.

Grants: First Bank has two direct grant programs to assist our communities and organizations with raising funds. The Community Development Grant Program can assist qualified organizations that support the revitalization of communities, expand affordable housing and economic opportunities and improve community facilities and service, principally to benefit low- and moderate-income individuals in designated distressed and underserved rural communities and throughout southeast Alaska. Our Community Service Award Program provides fundraising opportunities for various groups by rewarding that group directly for providing community service to organizations that offer critically needed services to our communities.

Donations & Sponsorships: Our donations and sponsorships give First Bank more opportunities to provided support to qualified nonprofit organizations and community groups for education and artistic and cultural enrichment.

Service & Volunteerism: First Bank directors, officers and employees donate their time and expertise in support of various organizations throughout our region by serving on boards of directors, volunteer at schools, provide home ownership and financial education training, and volunteer individually.
