Our Community Spotlight Events give First Bank more opportunities to provide support and community awareness to qualified nonprofit organizations and community groups. Usually hosted at one of our branches, our Community Spotlight Events allow for a unique way to highlight a local organization as well as providing a means for fundraising. Past Community Spotlight Events have included an art auction, an art sales event, a wine tasting and even a calendar unveiling.

July 2018 - Petersburg

First Bank's Board of Directors, Officers, and Branch staff hosted events in Petersburg that raised more than $18,000 for the Petersburg Medical Center Foundation. Community members donated $7,000 at First Bank's Spotlight Event, which First Bank matched with $5,000. Also included in the $18,000 total was a $5,000 First Bank Community Development Grant for the PMC scholarship fund. Other First Bank contributions included a $500 scholarship for the annual "Paddle Battle" race, which benefited the Foundation. And a silent auction in our Petersburg branch took in $530 for the Foundation. The funds were to be used for continuing education that ensures essential medical services will be available in Petersburg.

July 2017 – Sitka

A Spotlight Event in Sitka raised more than $15,000 for Youth Advocates of Sitka (YAS), a non-profit mental health agency that provides mental and behavioral health services to youth and their families. To begin with, First Bank contributed a $5,000 Community Development grant to YAS. Then community members donated $7,200 at the Spotlight Event, to which First Bank added $3,000 in matching funds. In addition to mental and behavioral health services, YAS operates a housing facility for youth needing emergency care, temporary care, or the structured environment of a group home, and is the only housing facility in the state for youth ages 10-12.
